The publication Arrakkadesh Volume 2 has been distributed for free since November 1 in towns with restricted phone, internet, and electricity access, including Thandwe, Minbya, Mrauk-U, and Myebon. Plans are underway to expand its distribution to towns like Kyauktaw, Pauktaw, Ponnagyun, and Rathedaung.

Produced by a coalition of Rakhine-based news agencies—Coastal News Agency, Arakha Times, and The Akyab Post—Arrakkadesh aims to provide verified information and promote press freedom in areas cut off from regular news access. It serves as an independent media outlet offering residents in these isolated regions accurate news about human rights, justice, and civic rights.

Villagers in Thandwe, who have read Arrakkadesh, report that it fosters a better understanding of justice, accountability, and civil rights, contributing to informed perspectives on human rights and press freedom in the region.

Residents in villages across Thandwe Township, who have been reading the Arrakkadesh newspaper, are gaining insights into justice, accountability, human rights, and civic rights. This access to information is also increasing public awareness and support for press freedom and citizens’ rights in the region.
